This morning I got up at about 8:15am. Then we got ready and headed out for the day. We walked by the river and saw a couple of loons. As we kept going we saw a bridge with a bunch of padlocks on it. The reason for this I don’t know. As we kept going we went into an alleyway and had breakfast at cafe Latini and I got scrambled eggs and hot chocolate. And my nana and my poppop let me have their yogurts from their big breakfast!

Then we went to a a Christmas shop and a Christmas and Easter shop. (Which was boring.) Then we went to a woodcarvings store. (Which was awesome) I got a carved and hand painted frog on a lily pad for 29 euros. Then we went to a store and I got a super cute pug shirt!

After that we went to a museum of music and art. It wasn’t that fun. After that we went on a cruise and got a good feel about Salzburg. And then we walked to to a dinner place called Sternbrau and I got Mac and cheese with Fanta.

I must say that Salzburg is such a beautiful city. Our apartment looks down over the old city and is an easy walk to town. The view from our living room is stunning! I’ll have to get a picture of that in the morning. We had perfect weather today.

As Luke said, we did some shopping this morning, but he was the only one who was bored! The Christmas shops were amazing! I’d love to come back here during the Christmas markets. We even managed to buy a few Christmas gifts. We went to the Salzburg Museum today after picking up our Salzburg cards. It is a large museum about the history of Salzburg, too big for us to see it all. We did really enjoy the special exhibit about the 200th anniversary of the writing of “Silent Night” and a great section on musical instruments. (Oh, and  the padlocks on the bridge – legend has it that if you and your love lock one onto the bridge, your love will last forever.)

The cruise on the Salzach River was beautiful, and quite a feat of engineering given the shallow areas and swift current. Dinner was excellent. Luke’s mac and cheese was actually a cheesy spaetzl. Salzburg closes up a lot earlier than London or Paris so we came back to the apartment and watched “The Sound of Music” on DVD to get us ready for tomorrow’s adventures…
