This morning I got up at 7:40am. After we left we went to fort Hohensalzburg and got to go on a funicular to the fort. When we got there, there were so many steps my Nana stayed at the bottom. In the fort there were cannons and wells and there was even a marionette museum and a regular museum. It was all so cool!

After that we got on a bus and headed to the zoo. My favorite animal was at the zoo. A Jaguar!!!!! And my third favorite the snow leopard was there too!!! There was also Lions, Pumas, Monkeys, Fish, Bears, Goats, Llamas and more! The Jaguars walked around a lot and one was eating and the other even went on a log which was a great photo. The Lions walked around a lot. There was a male and a female and the female even roared! The snow leopard and the Puma just layed down. The first time we saw them one bear was laying down near the glass looking cuddly and the other was asleep behind the trees but the second time we saw them they were both walking around! One kind of monkey just kept swinging and saying “Woooooh! Whooo!” The Red pandas kept going in holes and walking around and climbing trees, they were so cute!!!!! The Llamas were coming up to the fence and fighting to eat the hay. And the goats were in a petting zoo and my favorite was a brown fluffy one. After we saw the whole zoo I got a panda shirt, a magnet and a Red panda sticker!

Wow! Our last day in Salzburg was a great one. We went to the Hohensalzburg Fortress this morning. To get there, we rode a very fast funicular. The fortress is a beautiful building from the outside, but the inside was quite neat as well, with a museum and the little marionette museum. The torture tower, with all it’s modes of torturing prisoners, was pretty impressive!

I was a little hesitant to come all the way to Europe and go to a zoo, but Luke was really wanting to do it. What a surprise that it was one of my favorite zoos ever! It was designed to sit at the base of a mountain and incorporate the actual mountain in the habitats. I’m not sure if it was the design of the enclosures or the fact that it was a nice fall day, but the animals were almost all up and moving about. At many other zoos I have been to, you look and look to find the animal and, if you’re lucky enough to spot it, it’s probably sleeping! Luke was in his glory, and we all had a good time.

After the zoo, we had dinner at the Cafe Mozart, a nice meal with classic Austrian fare. It was a great last meal in Salzburg.
